Foreign Governments Eye Indonesia’s Geothermal Projects

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:A number of foreign countries have confirmed their intention to invest in geothermal resource sector in Indonesia. "We will push for this starting today until Christmas,” Murray McCully, the New Zealand Foreign Minister who has been in Indonesia since last Monday, told Tempo. McCully said the collaboration will start with geothermal technology education. “We cannot specify the program yet,” he said.

Jambi industries advised to replace fuel with coal

Jambi (ANTARA News) - To avoid being constrained by fuel scarcities or price hikes, industries in Jambi province should switch to alternative energy sources such as coal to run their factories, a local energy official said. State oil palm plantation company PTPN VI had already begun replacing fuel oil with the waste from oil palm fruits to run its mills, and other companies should follow suit, Ermansyah Herman, head of Jambi`s energy and mineral resources office, said here Thursday.

Leased office occupancy rate nears 90 % in Q3

Indonesia's stellar economic performance and strong growth in investment realization have helped boost the occupancy rate of offices in Greater Jakarta to 89.89 percent in the third quarter of this year. Property consultancy company Coldwell Banker Indonesia said Thursday that the country's economic growth that reached 6.2 percent in the second quarter had given a rise to investors' confidence in doing businesses and lease offices.

Telkomvision launches prepaid TV

Telkomvision, a pay television operator in Indonesia, launched Thursday a prepaid TV in a bid to net more subscribers. The company has aimed at increasing subscription rate to 500,000 this year, up from 300,000 last year. President Director Telkomvision Elvizar KH told reporters the prepaid system created more flexibility for subscribers in selecting TV program packages.

Indonesian Government Urged to Ensure PLN Support for Geothermal

Jakarta. The Indonesian Geothermal Association is pushing the government to demonstrate its commitment to renewable energy by forcing the state electricity utility to purchase geothermal energy to help spur investment in the lagging sector. Otherwise, investment might be delayed and phase two of an ambitious government plan to add an extra 10,000 megawatts to the country’s generating capacity might not be finished by 2014 as scheduled, according to the association, also known as the API.

Seven Foreign Investors Interested in Indonesian Cocoa

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Benny Wachjudi, the Industry Ministry’s Agro and Chemical director-general, said there were seven foreign investors interested in investing in the cocoa industry. They are ADM Cocoa from Singapore, Guanchong Cocoa from Malaysia, Olam International from Singapore, Cargill from the Netherlands, Mars from the US, Armajaro from the UK and Ferrero from Italy.
