India biggest contributor to N Sumatra`s forex earnings
Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - India has been the biggest contributor to North Sumatra`s foreign exchange earnings which in August this year totaled US$5.553 billion. "From January to August, India`s contribution to North Sumatra`s foreign exchange earnings has reeched 15.75 percent worth US$874.606 million," head of the North Sumatra office of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Alimuddin Sidabalok, said here on Saturday.

Bali`s export products remain competitive in global markets
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali`s exports of different commodities to 83 countries are expected to remain competitive on the global market, head of the Bali provincial industry and trade office Gede Darmaja said here Saturday. "Bali`s export commodities are unique and attractive making them most demanded by foreign consumers, and they (the commodities) are not produced in other countries," Darmaja said.

Bali earns us$125.6 million from light industry exports
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali earned 125.6 million US dollars from its light industry exports in the first semester of this year, a 14.7 percent increase over the same period last year when the figure was 109 million US dollars, a local trade official said. "Garments from home industries have mostly been the prime mover of the export increase in the category of light industry," Putu Bagiada, head of the Bali industry and trade office said Saturday.

South Sulawesi govt to sue INCO
Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Southeast Sulawesi provincial government is planning to file a lawsuit with the local court against nickel mining company PT Inco on the grounds it has harmed the local people`s interests. "The international company now controls more than 62,000 hectares of nickel mining concession under a contract of work signed in 1968 but it does not contribute to the local people`s welfare whatsoever," Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam said here on Sunday.

Astra Agro plans to increase production capacity
Astra Agro plans to increase production capacity Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - Publicly-listed oil palm plantation company PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk plans to increase the production capacity of its crude palm oil processing plants this year to 1,125 tons/hour from 985 tons/hour previously. "The production capacity will increase in 2011 or 2012," PT Astra Agro Lestari Deputy President Director Tonny Hermawan said here on Sunday.

Lack of security hampers foreign investors to operate in Aceh
Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province (ANTARA News) - Lack of security and the imposition of Islamic syariah law have hampered foreign investors in investing in the Aceh province, a local councilor has said. "Of the lack of security and Islamic syariah law, the former is the one the foreign investors fear most because the government has yet to be able to ensure security in the province," Aceh Provincial Legislative Assembly`s Commission-C member Zulkifli said here on Sunday.
