Government Prepares Five SEZ Locations

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Minister of Industry, M.S. Hidayat, has said that five locations have been prepared for special economy zones (SEZ) including in the eastern part of Sumatra, West Java's north coast road (Pantura), eastern part of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Merauke in Papua. “There will be a food estate in Merauke,” said Hidayat at his office, on Friday (6/11).

Taking a closer look into Kadin's economic road map

The Jakarta Post's senior editor Manggi Habir met recently with Faisal Basri and Yuri Sato, two senior economists who were key architects of the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry's (Kadin) recently launched 2010-2014 economic road map. This road map has now attracted prominence with the appointment of Kadin chairman M.S. Hidayat as industry minister. It also provides insight into the government's economic thinking and direction on industrial policy.

Summit to boost tourism investment: Asita

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Association of the Indonesian Tour & Travel Agencies (Asita) said tourism investment in Indonesia would grow positively after the holding of last month`s national summit. "The investment in the tourism sector will grow positively, though it would not be as rapid as our expectation," Asita Vice Chairman for Jakarta Jongki Adiyasa said here over the weekend.

Government Cancels the Oath of Office for Chief of Investment Board

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government has cancelled the plan to administer the oath of office of Gita Wirjawan former President Director of JP Morgan Indonesia to officiate his appointment as the new Head of Investment Coordinating Board. The original plan according to Gita, that he will be installed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Radjasa. No information on why the swearing in was cancelled.
