Minister Says Asean On Track For Single Market

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or Asean, is on track to create an Asean economic community, or AEC, by 2015 despite the delay of an association summit in Thailand that was scheduled for this week due to the political crisis there, Trade Minister Mari Pangestu said on Monday. He made the remarks while commenting on the Asean Charter, which took effect the same day.

Asean agrees on liberalization of three sectors

Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - The economy ministers of the ASEAN member countries will sign an agreement on the liberalization of trade of goods and service, and investment to reach the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. "On December 16, 2008, ASEAN economic ministers will meet in Singapore. The main agenda of the meeting is the signing of several agreements and important treaties as implementation of the AEC blue print," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here on Monday.
