Aussie investors complain of fraud

Panca Nugraha, The Jakarta Post, Mataram An Australian couple who had intended to develop a resort in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, have been allegedly cheated out of Rp 4.2 billion (approximately US$380,000) by a local real estate agent. Accompanied by their lawyer, Taufik Budiman, Paul Frederick Robson, 54, and Deborah Cynthia Strock, 52, lodged a report at the provincial police headquarters, hoping police would be able to resolve the case.

Six Australians Lost Rp12 Billion

TEMPO Interactive, Mataram: Four Australians who planned to invest in hotels in West Nusa Tenggara were deceived. They were to buy land in Sekotong, West Lombok Regency. Attorney Muhammad Taufik Budiman yesterday accompanied Paul Frederick Robson, Deborah Cynthia, Michael Edward Gadsby, Valerie Ann Gadsby, Anthony Stephen Hadgkinson, and Linda Rae Morrison to NTB regional police. They were deceived by their partners, called Iba, in Mataram.

Global Crisis Affecting Bird Livestock

Out of 100,000 tons of chicken in South Sumatera, only 50 percent is absorbed in the market. It is predicted that half of 1,000 breeders belonging to the South Sumatera Breeders Association (AMPERA) will be bankrupt by early 2009. AMPERA’s chairman Ismaidi said that at present the production cost has been higher than the selling price.

Cabinet meeting to discuss regulation on food estates

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A cabinet session scheduled for Thursday noon is to discuss a regulation on food estates to be established to support Indonesia`s food resilience. "In the cabinet session at noon, there will be a report on this matter (regulation of food estates)," Bayu Krisnamurthi, deputy for agriculture and fisheries to the coordinating minister for economic affairs, said here on Thursday when officially opening a workshop on food estates at the finance ministry building.

Tourism Ministry projects foreign tourists at 6.7 mln in 2009

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has projected the number of foreign tourists to Indonesia in 2009 would increase by 6.2 percent, or 6.7 million. The statement was made by the Ministry`s marketing director general Sapta Nirwandar when disclosing the result of the 2009 Tourism Marketing Working Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday. "Three different targets of number of foreign tourists to Indonesia in 2009 had been set.
