Do execs really want feedback?
Well it's certainly not culturally relativistic. I just think all that excessive, obsequious politeness stuff plays into the hands of those with the power. I'll stick my flag in the sand and say that meritocracy will produce a better society

Indonesian shares raise to fresh record high on capital inflows
JAKARTA (AP): Indonesian shares rose to a fresh record Wednesday on capital inflows ahead of an expected rate cut by the central bank. The Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite index climbed 27.475 points, or 1.4 percent, to 1,922.051 points, with Nickel miner robust trading volume where gainer led losers 96 to 73 with 59 stocks unchanged. Mining stocks remain stars in market on strong commodity prices.

Bali to get 400 MW thermal power plant soon
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - State electricity firm PT PLN will soon embark on the construction of a thermal power plant with a combined capacity of 400 MW near Celukan Bawang port in Buleleng district, Bali, aimed at anticipating power shortages on the resort island, an official said. The construction of the power plant is scheduled for completion in two years` time, PT PLN General Manager for Bali Distribution Area Ngurah Adnyana said here Thursday.

RPX inaugurates new transit warehouse
Local cargo services provider RPX Group opened a second transit warehouse Wednesday in response to increasing imports and exports. Located at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Tangerang, the information technology-integrated building will facilitate exporters and importers with their air cargo shipments, RPX Group said in a media statement.

Ritz Carlton to open new resort on Bintan
Ritz Carlton is to open a new resort in the Bintan Resort Tourism Zone on Bintan island in Riau Islands province by the end of 2008 at a total cost of US$65 million. The 77,000-square meter resort, which will boast 60 villas, is expected to attract more tourists to the area, Bintan Resort Development Corp.'s public relations manager Nia Firtica said Tuesday in Batam. The resort, the construction of which will start in July, will also have a conference center that can accommodate 600 people.

Spending on infrastructure set to rise by 34 percent next year
The government will allocate more money for infrastructure development in next year's budget in an effort to ease the distribution bottlenecks that have seriously hampered the country's economic growth. "The bottleneck problem will become worse in 2008 if nothing is done to deal with the infrastructure issue," Coordinating Minister for the Economy Boediono said Wednesday in Jakarta.

Entrepreneurship vital for SMEs, says Kalla
Vice President Jusuf Kalla has called on the country's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve their levels of entrepreneurship and innovation if they want to grow their businesses in today's fiercely competitive global market. Speaking Wednesday during the opening of an SME exhibition in Jakarta, Kalla said that the government, for its part, would continue to support SMEs in securing greater access to financing, and in marketing their products.
