Sumitomo clinches geothermal order in Indonesia

Tokyo (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Sumitomo Corp. (TSE:8053) has received a 14 billion yen (US$116.2 million) order for geothermal power equipment made by Fuji Electric Systems Co. for a private operator in Indonesia. The equipment will be used in the expansion of the Wayang Windu power plant operated by Star Energy Holdings Ltd. in West Java. Its output of 117,000kw will be the largest for its kind in the world.

Floods discourage investors, says economic analyst

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Economic observer of the Econit Institute, Hendri Saparini, said the floods that had hit Jakarta over the past seven days have reduced investors` interest in operating in Indonesia. "Natural disasters can happen in any country but the problem here is that the government`s response to the floods was too slow," he said here. He said the government`s slow response to the floods would reduce investors` confidence in investment security in Indonesia.

Indonesia, Switzerland agree to avoid double taxation

Jakarta (ANTARA News)- Indonesia and Switzerland agreed here to avoid double taxation by signing an amendement of the document on protocol for avoiding double taxation. "This agreement is an important step to increase economic relations between the two countries especially to create a more conducive atmosphere for investment in Indonesia," Swiss ambassador to Indonesia, Bernadino Regazzoni, said.

Samarinda (ANTARA News) - The government has set a target in plantation by means of revitalizing two million hectares of land in 20 provinces of Indonesia for this sector as a way to increase production of such commodities as oil palm fruit, rubber and cocoa.
