Plan For Revisions of Workers’ Guarantee Law

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Worker circles support the government's plan of revising the payment system of severance pay that entrepreneurs offer to the insurance system of Workers’ Guarantee (Jamsostek). The support is given as long as the amount of payment does not alter. Head of the Union Confederation for Prosperous Indonesian Workers Rekson Silaban said he hoped that the plan can be attached in the revisions of Jamsostek Law.

Only 40% of pharmacies ready for free trade

Only 40 percent of local pharmaceutical firms comply with the "current good manufacturing practices" (CGMP), which promote standardized product quality, required under the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) that takes effect in 2008, an association says. At present, the industry boasts 206 manufacturers, including 35 multinational firms. "All of our members are trying to comply with these requirements in the run-up to AFTA, which will come into effect in January 2008," Anthony C.H.

Burger King will begin opening stores in Indonesia

MIAMI (AP): Burger King Holdings Inc., the world's No. 2 burgerchain, said Thursday said it will begin opening restaurants inIndonesia in June. Burger King said its subsidiary, BK AsiaPac Pte Ltd. gavedevelopment rights for Indonesia to PT Sari Burger Indonesia,which is principally owned by PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tk. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The first restaurant will open in Jakarta. Burger King operates more than 11,100 restaurants in the U.S.and 65 countries and U.S. territories.
