Zurman next chair of Jambi council

JAMBI, Jambi: Zurman Manaf of the Golkar Party was elected
chairman of the Jambi provincial council on Monday, garnering 30
out of total 44 votes in the provincial council.

Zurman defeated Chairul Naim from the National Mandate Party
(PAN) and Suwarno Surinta from the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI-P), who got 13 and one vote respectively.

Erminal, a member of the Golkar faction at the provincial
council, attributed Zurman's victory to the solid support from
members of Nationhood Coalition established by Golkar and PDI-P,
two largest factions in the council. -- JP
