Zulkifli Discusses Recruitment for Red and White Cooperative Managers
The government has officially opened job vacancies to fill the positions of 30,000 managers for Red and White Cooperatives and 5,476 employees for Red and White Fishermen’s Villages across the country.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan emphasised that the entire selection process is conducted openly and transparently through the Ministry of State Apparatus Utilisation and Bureaucratic Reform to ensure no collusion in the recruitment.
Registration for the recruitment has been open from 15 to 24 April 2026. “So there are no special channels, no recommendations, no parties guaranteeing success,” said Zulkifli Hasan in Yogyakarta on Thursday night, 16 April 2026.
He stated that this recruitment is free from any fees or the use of influential letters so that every citizen has an equal opportunity.
According to him, the Red and White Cooperatives and Red and White Fishermen’s Villages represent President Prabowo’s aspirations in transforming villages into centres of independent economic strength.
The government, said Zulkifli Hasan, wants economic wealth not to circulate only among a handful of certain groups, but to have a real and even impact in every region. One way is through programmes down to the village level via the development of 30,000 village cooperatives and 5,000 fishermen’s villages.
“The economy must influence every region, every village. The economy must not be controlled by just a few people, with wealth circulating around,” he said.
Zulkifli Hasan explained that the Prabowo government’s main focus at present is to strengthen food sovereignty and elevate the living standards of coastal communities and farmers to greater prosperity. Therefore, he urged that matters of political contestation or the distribution of positions be set aside first for the sake of the people’s interests.
In addition to strengthening human resources through these managers, Zulhas said the government will also build physical infrastructure in the Fishermen’s Villages. One of them is planning the construction of ice factories and providing cooling machine facilities or cold storage.
This aims to ensure that sea catches have longer durability so that fishermen’s bargaining power in the market increases significantly.
“We will build ice factories for fishermen so that their catches have better bargaining power,” said Zulkifli Hasan.
