Zulhas Visits SAE Pujon Cooperative, Encourages Milk Production and Downstreaming
The government continues to strengthen the national food sector through increased domestic fresh milk production. This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) during a working visit to the SAE (Sinau Andandani Ekonomi) Milk Cooperative in Pujon, Malang Regency, East Java. The SAE Pujon Cooperative is the largest and most advanced milk cooperative in East Java, known as a primary supplier of fresh milk to various national dairy processing industries, with more than 9,000 members. During the visit, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs assessed the performance of the SAE Pujon Cooperative as showing very good progress, particularly in terms of production. He also emphasised that national milk needs are substantial, requiring strengthening through downstream processing to support community nutrition fulfilment via the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG). βThe SAE Pujon Cooperative is already good; its milk production has reached 130,000 litres per day. Meanwhile, milk needs are also large, so downstream processing is necessary,β stated Zulkifli Hasan on Friday (10/4/2026). This visit is expected to strengthen the role of cooperatives in supporting national food security as well as encourage increased domestic milk production and downstream processing.
