Zulhas Says West Lombok's Water Spinach is the Best in the World

Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), praised the water spinach from West Lombok as the best in the world. “The best water spinach in the world is in West Lombok,” he said while attending the 68th Anniversary of West Lombok on Friday (17/4/2026). According to Zulhas, the water spinach from West Lombok has distinctive characteristics not found in other regions. Its delicious taste makes it a favourite of many people. “Extraordinary, that’s true. Try it, there’s none like it anywhere in the world,” said the former Minister of Trade. On the other hand, Zulhas assured that the national vegetable supply is currently sufficient to meet public consumption needs. “Vegetables are sufficient,” said the Chairman General of the National Mandate Party (PAN). He added that the government is now prioritising the increase in protein-containing food production to meet the balanced nutritional needs of the people. “This year, our focus is on protein. Like chicken, eggs, and fish. Anyway, this year we focus on protein, so that later eating is sufficient,” emphasised the politician born in Lampung.
