Zulhas Reveals Reasons Why PAN Supported Prabowo Three Times in Presidential Elections

The Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan, also known as Zulhas, stated that his party has spent a long period accompanying the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. Zulhas remarked that PAN no longer needs to prove its loyalty to Prabowo.

This was stated by Zulhas during his speech at the 28th anniversary celebration of PAN at the JCC, Jakarta, on Friday (18/9/2026). Zulhas noted that PAN and Prabowo have traversed a long and winding road.

“The togetherness of PAN and Mr Prabowo has passed through a long and winding history. It has not just been one presidential election season, but we have been fighting together for decades. PAN does not need to prove its togetherness, faithfulness, loyalty, or commitment to the struggle, because everything is already clear and bright,” said Zulhas.

Zulhas mentioned that many have asked why PAN has continued to support Prabowo for three consecutive elections. He explained that this was not merely a matter of political calculation.

“This is not just political calculation, nor is it just about forming a government. I remember recently, when colleagues were deliberating with Gerindra, I went to the office of the Minister of Defence, your office,” he said.

“Sir, even though it is Gerindra alone, we are with you. Let us complete your struggle’s ideals; God willing, this time we will succeed,” he continued, mimicking his conversation with Prabowo.

Zulhas said he had experienced difficult times when many other parties pursued their own agendas. However, PAN remained supportive of Prabowo through three elections because of a shared set of struggle values.

“I remember that period was a difficult time because many party colleagues also had their own ambitions. Therefore, why three elections? Because there is a similarity in the values of struggle and the ideals of building the nation to realise national sovereignty,” he revealed.
