Zulhas Reveals Numerous Problems at BGN: Internal Reforms Underway
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, known as Zulhas, has revealed a multitude of problems within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He stated that the agency’s internal affairs are currently being addressed.
“This is it, there are many problems at BGN. So now, the internal matters are being sorted out first, reviewed, while other activities are temporarily halted. The other new initiatives are stopped for now,” Zulhas told reporters at the House of Representatives complex in Jakarta on Monday (22 June 2026).
Zulhas said the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme is also currently under evaluation. He assured that those who do not require the programme will not receive it.
“Focus on, for example, those who don’t need it, don’t give it to them. Good schools that don’t need it, no need,” he stated.
Furthermore, Zulhas said the governance of the MBG programme is being improved. He added that the programme’s kitchens are also being audited.
“Then the governance is also being fixed. The kitchens, those are also being audited. Even though it’s a matter of one or two of our children, food poisoning must not happen again. Once this is fixed, then we will continue the MBG programme further,” he explained.
