Zulhas: Rachmat Gobel Was a Good Man with Many Works

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has described the late Rachmat Gobel as a good man who leaves behind many great works.

Zulhas made the remarks whilst paying his condolences at Rachmat Gobel’s residence on Jalan Soepomo, South Jakarta, on Friday morning (10/7). He said the passing of the member of the House of Representatives and prominent national businessman has left a deep impression.

“Oh, I have known him for a long time, an old friend. I am also grieving; Indonesia mourns. We can all bear witness that he was a good man,” said Zulhas.

He went on to say that the late Rachmat Gobel leaves behind many works and a lasting legacy. Before becoming a member of the House of Representatives, Rachmat Gobel held an important position in government, serving as Minister of Trade during President Joko Widodo’s administration from October 2014 to August 2015.

“He left behind many works and much legacy. Of course we feel the loss. The last time we met was at an event in Gorontalo,” said Zulhas.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri expressed similar sentiments, recalling many impressions from her meetings with Rachmat Gobel.

“There are so many positive impressions. In essence, he was an extremely good person with a very humble character who always offered advice to those younger. I am truly glad to be able to remember him. May his soul be received by Allah SWT,” she said.
