Zulhas Orders Cadres to Aid Citizens: Start Sorting Waste at Home

National Mandate Party (PAN) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan has instructed all party cadres to go directly into communities to help citizens, including by sorting waste from the household level. He made the assertion while opening the National Workshop for the PAN Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Faction throughout Indonesia in Jakarta on Sunday (7/6), which was attended by thousands of DPRD members from all provinces. “The ‘Help the People’ slogan must manifest in real action. The most tangible problem facing society today is waste, and we cannot solve it if we only talk from within comfortable council chambers,” Zulkifli stated in a release. According to him, waste management will never be fully solved if regions rely solely on downstream processing facilities. Even the construction of sophisticated processing infrastructure will be futile without a cultural shift in society. “The key lies upstream, in our own homes. Sorting waste must become a new culture in homes, offices, schools, and restaurants. If this upstream movement does not work, no matter how advanced the waste-to-energy technology is downstream, it will not be able to resolve the problem,” he explained. PAN has positioned this strategic step as a form of full support for President Prabowo Subianto’s policy direction in the environmental sector, particularly in overseeing Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2025. This regulation mandates that waste must be transformed into a source of renewable energy.
