Zulhas' One-Year Work Plan: Food Self-Sufficiency to Waste Management
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) has detailed his ministry’s work plan for the next year, focusing on completing sustainable food self-sufficiency and improving cooperative management. “My tasks are numerous, among them we must ensure sustainable food self-sufficiency. Alhamdulillah, it is progressing smoothly, many new rice fields have been developed,” Zulhas told reporters at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (22/6/2026).
Zulhas further stated he will concentrate on addressing waste issues. Additionally, the PAN chairman will focus on cooperative governance. “Then, what is the second issue we must resolve? Waste. The waste problem. The third, which is no less contentious, concerns cooperative governance. Although there is a direct Presidential Instruction to the Food Agency, it remains under our coordination. We will also improve its governance; it must be transparent and open,” he explained.
“Every rupiah of the people’s money must be properly accounted for, and then legal certainty and law enforcement are also necessary; there is a lot of homework,” he continued. Zulhas also said his party will resolve the issue of sustainable rice field land, or LP2B. “And most importantly, we must finalise the sustainable rice field land (LP2B). Land that cannot be converted anymore, and for those already converted, there will be rules for replacement and so on. So, plenty of homework,” he added.
