National Mandate Party (PAN) Chairman Zulkifli Hasan reminded his party members who currently hold public office not to be arrogant toward the people. According to the man commonly known as Zulhas, such behavior is completely contrary to the principles of a public official, who should protect and listen to the people.

“Brothers and sisters, this is for our friends in the DPR, for PAN members, for Regents. As government officials, don’t be arrogant, don’t forget yourselves, don’t act showy,” said Zulhas while delivering his remarks at the PANFest event at Taman Kota, Gelora Bung Karno Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, 14 February 2026.

To his party members, Zulhas gave the example that he himself attends 15 to 18 engagements every day. These activities range from inspecting the free nutritious meals (MBG) program, food security programs, to other activities closely related to the public.

Amid these activities, Zulhas said he often takes the time to engage in direct dialogue with the public to hear their aspirations. Through these aspirations, the government learns what policies need to be issued to meet the people’s needs.

“So if a DPR member doesn’t have time to go down to the people, that’s inexcusable,” said Zulhas.

Zulhas continued that by always being present in the field, he is confident that public trust in party members and the party itself will continue to grow. This is very useful as capital for competing in the next general elections.

“So I ask PAN members not to wait for elections. Every week, go down to the people three or four days,” said Zulhas.
