Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan has assured that subsidised fertiliser supplies are more than adequate and arrive before the planting season.

“Alhamdulillah, we saw together earlier that the fertiliser distribution is smooth, with no issues, and the discount (the Maximum Retail Price/HET has been reduced, ed.) is still in effect. The availability of fertiliser is more than sufficient, and it’s already there before planting,” said Zulhas, quoted from his statement on Friday (8/5/2026).

He further explained that he has been tasked by President Prabowo Subianto to ensure that the policies on the governance of subsidised fertiliser distribution are running well. Previously, the Government made changes to facilitate farmers’ access to subsidised fertiliser.

These changes include simplifying regulations in the governance of subsidised fertiliser distribution. With these changes, subsidised fertiliser can be redeemed by farmers from the beginning of the year and obtained before starting to plant.

The next change is a 20% reduction in the HET for subsidised fertiliser starting October 2025 for all types of fertiliser. This reduction is the first in the history of fertiliser subsidies in the country.

“I have been tasked by the President to travel around Indonesia for three days a week, to listen, check, and ensure that the President’s policies are running well. One of them is fertiliser, because farmers must prosper. How do farmers prosper? Fertiliser must flow smoothly,” said Zulhas.

Zulhas also highlighted the success of ministries and agricultural sector agencies in strengthening the national food sector through various strategic programmes, from accelerating food self-sufficiency to increasing the national rice surplus. This success, he added, is partly supported by the smooth distribution of subsidised fertiliser.

Meanwhile, Director of Supply Chain at Pupuk Indonesia, Robby Setiabudi Madjid, expressed appreciation for the Government’s support of Pupuk Indonesia’s performance in distributing subsidised fertiliser more efficiently. The facilitations provided by the Government to farmers, he said, have made the absorption of subsidised fertiliser more optimal.

Specifically for Lampung Province, the Government has allocated 715,000 tonnes of subsidised fertiliser for 2026. This consists of 310,889 tonnes of Urea, 387,830 tonnes of NPK Phonska, 7,495 tonnes of Special NPK for Cocoa, 8,019 tonnes of Petroganik organic fertiliser, 282 tonnes of ZA, and 485 tonnes of SP-36. The redemption by Lampung farmers at the beginning of this year was quite high, at 489,008 tonnes. The realisation of distribution up to 7 May 2026 is around 41.87% of the allocation.

“The uptake at the beginning of this year is quite high. This is not detached from the facilitations provided by the Government through changes in the governance of subsidised fertiliser distribution,” said Robby.

For information, Zulhas attended the “Rembuk Tani” in Penengahan Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, on Friday (8/5/2026). This event was attended by around 300 farmers.

On this occasion, Pupuk Indonesia also handed over 5 tonnes of non-subsidised fertiliser aid, consisting of 2.5 tonnes of NPK Phonska Plus and 2.5 tonnes of Nitrea fertiliser.
