Zulhas: Development must realise social justice for all
The new government has been running for 22 months. In two more months it will have completed two full years. Some programmes have succeeded, some have not, and others are still ongoing.
Jombang (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has stressed that national development must continue the aspirations of the nation’s founders to realise a just and prosperous society for all.
He made the remarks while visiting the grave of K.H. Wahab Chasbullah at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School complex in Jombang Regency, as part of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress being held in the regency.
“We must continue the aspirations fought for by Mbah Wahab (K.H. Wahab Chasbullah), towards an Indonesia that is baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur, just for all,” said Zulkifli Hasan in Jombang on Thursday.
According to him, the principles of national development must also be based on the spirit of kinship, mutual cooperation and togetherness, as reflected in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.
“Therefore, we must grow together. That is what is being fought for now,” he said.
Zulkifli Hasan emphasised that growth and development should not be felt only by certain groups, but must provide benefits for all levels of society.
He said the spirit of togetherness is an important part of efforts to build a more just and prosperous Indonesia.
In addition to visiting the grave of one of the founders of the Islamic organisation Nahdlatul Ulama, K.H. Wahab Chasbullah, Zulkifli Hasan also attended the 2026 National Halaqoh on Islamic Boarding School Business Economics at the Darul Ulum University Hall in Jombang.
At the event, he encouraged Islamic boarding schools and Islamic higher education institutions to take a greater role in strengthening food security and community economic independence.
According to him, Islamic boarding schools have great potential to be developed as part of the national food and economic ecosystem because they have human resources and extensive community networks.
Zulkifli Hasan also said that the government continues to evaluate various programmes that have been implemented during the 22 months of the current administration.
“The new government has been running for 22 months. In two more months it will have completed two full years. Some programmes have succeeded, some have not, and others are still ongoing,” he said.
After attending the agenda, Zulkifli also joined the opening of the 35th NU Congress at Untung Suropati Field, Jombang.
The opening of the 35th NU Congress was attended by President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as well as a number of ministers and national figures.
The 35th NU Congress takes place from 27 to 31 August 2026 and serves as a forum for organisational consolidation as well as discussion of various strategic issues facing the ummah and the nation.
In addition to attending the opening of the Congress, Zulkifli Hasan is scheduled to take part in a number of agendas in Jombang until Saturday (29/8), including the National Silaturahmi of Super Asparagus or Aspirasi Para Gus, as well as the groundbreaking for the construction of Campus 2 of K.H. A. Wahab Hasbullah University (UNWAHA).
