Meta has recently added another platform to its business empire following the acquisition of Moltbook, which joins Instagram and Facebook in the technology giant’s portfolio. The company founded by Mark Zuckerberg officially acquired the AI agent platform.

Meta confirmed the acquisition of the AI agent platform. The agreement also includes CEO Matt Schlist and COO Ben Parr joining Meta Superintelligence Labs.

“Moltbook’s team joining MSL opens new pathways for AI agents to work for people and businesses,” said a Meta spokesperson, as reported by CNBC International on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

“Their approach connecting agents with an active directory is a new step in this rapidly evolving field,” the spokesperson added.

A previous Axios report indicated the deal was likely to close in mid-March. Schlist and Parr are set to begin working at the Meta business unit on 16 March 2026.

Moltbook rapidly went viral online due to the capabilities of the underlying OpenClaw model. The model, previously named Clawdbot, and Moltbot possess the ability to complete tasks on user operating systems.

OpenClaw is also described as AI that actually does things. Most of the agents within it are built on Moltbook.

The platform is exclusively designed for agents, which will join automatically once humans share a registration link.

CNBC International explained that OpenClaw is driving AI agents into the mainstream. Its capabilities include functioning as an assistant for managing various activities such as calendar management, sending emails and online shopping.

Meta itself has a track record of actively acquiring start-ups that align with its future ambitions. Instagram, WhatsApp, Scale AI, and Oculus VR are among the companies that were previously competitors of Meta before being acquired by the technology giant.
