ZTE Wins Three Selular Awards 2026 for AI-Based Network Innovation
ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has won three prestigious awards at the Selular Award 2026, held on 8 June 2026 at the Hotel Menara Peninsula in Jakarta. The awards acknowledge ZTE’s contribution and innovation in advancing artificial intelligence (AI)-based network technology amid the acceleration of digital transformation and 5G development in Indonesia. ZTE’s contribution to AI-based network innovation was recognised by the Selular Media Network (SMN), a prominent telecommunications and technology media outlet in Indonesia, through three awards at the Selular Award 2026. ZTE won in the categories of Best AI Technology Fixed Wireless Access, Best AI Network Ecosystem, and Best Native AI Baseband. These awards reflect ZTE’s capabilities in delivering innovation in network access, ecosystem development, and core infrastructure, while strengthening its position as a technology partner supporting digital transformation and AI-based network evolution in Indonesia. The Selular Award is an annual appreciation programme organised by Selular Media Network to honour outstanding achievements and contributions in Indonesia’s ICT and digital technology industry. As the first and most consistent telecommunications industry award since 2003, the Selular Award serves as a benchmark of excellence, recognising companies and brands that demonstrate innovation, superior performance, and tangible contributions to Indonesia’s digital transformation. Through this award, the public and business players can identify industry leaders who continue to create value and drive the progress of the digital ecosystem. This year, the Selular Award carried the theme ‘Leading The Future: Building Exponential Value in 5G-Advanced and AI Economy’, highlighting the convergence of AI and 5G-Advanced as key drivers of digital economic growth. Kevin Fang, Marketing Director of ZTE Indonesia, stated that digital transformation is no longer solely driven by connectivity, but also by the network’s ability to operate more intelligently, efficiently, and adaptively. He added that through AI-based innovations developed by ZTE, from broadband access to core infrastructure, the company is committed to delivering network solutions ready to meet connectivity needs in the AI and 5G-Advanced era. The award serves as motivation for ZTE to continue delivering meaningful innovation and creating value for the industry, customers, businesses, and society. Indonesia’s telecommunications industry is currently entering a critical phase in its digital transformation journey. According to the e-Conomy SEA 2025 report published by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, revenue from AI-based applications in Indonesia grew by 127% year-on-year, the highest in Southeast Asia, with 80% of users interacting with AI applications daily. This momentum reflects the increasing need for network infrastructure that is not only fast and reliable but also capable of supporting AI workloads. On the infrastructure side, GSMA Intelligence projects that 5G investment in Indonesia could contribute up to USD 41 billion to the national Gross Domestic Product over the 2024 to 2030 period. This projection underscores the strategic role of 5G as a connectivity foundation supporting digital transformation and economic growth. At the same time, the increasing adoption of AI and data-based services is driving the need for faster, more reliable networks capable of handling greater capacity. As part of its commitment to supporting this development, ZTE continues to deliver innovation across the entire network technology value chain, from broadband access to core infrastructure. On the access side, ZTE provides AI-based Fixed Wireless Access solutions designed to expand high-speed connectivity more efficiently and flexibly. This solution represents a strategic approach to supporting equitable broadband access while addressing the growing demand for connectivity across various regions. ZTE is also building an open ecosystem that integrates AI, connectivity, cloud computing, and other digital technologies within a collaborative framework involving operators and enterprises. At the core infrastructure level, ZTE integrates AI capabilities natively into the baseband, the main component responsible for network signal processing. By embedding AI directly into the baseband from the design stage, the network can analyse, optimise, and adjust its operations more intelligently and in real time. This approach enables more autonomous and efficient network operations while preparing the network to meet the demands of the 5G-Advanced era. Looking ahead, ZTE will continue to deepen collaboration with operators, enterprises, and industry partners in Indonesia, while strengthening its technology portfolio encompassing wireless access solutions, optical transport, data centre infrastructure, and telecommunications energy solutions. In line with Indonesia’s vision to become a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia, ZTE remains committed to accelerating national digital transformation through AI-based innovation, intelligent connectivity, and next-generation network technology that benefits more industries and regions across Indonesia.
