Jakarta (ANTARA) - ZTE and XLSMART have launched an innovation centre in Jakarta to support the development of 5G-A and AI in Indonesia.

Located at ZTE Indonesia’s office in The East Building, Kuningan district, South Jakarta, the centre will function as a practical platform for testing real-world applications and exploring new 5G-based business models in various industrial sectors in Indonesia.

The facility is also expected to provide an open platform for industry players, academic institutions, and ecosystem partners to jointly develop technology solutions tailored to the needs of the Indonesian market.

The launch was attended by senior representatives from the government and industry, including Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Nezar Patria, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, Chairman of Sinarmas Telecommunication & Technology Franky Oesman Widjaja, Senior Vice President and President of ZTE Corporation for Asia-Pacific and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Zhang Jianpeng.

Also present were Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia Sun Shangbin, Director of High-Speed Rail for KCIC Zhang Ming, and other members of XLSMART’s management team.

The innovation centre features several core technologies, including AI-based network optimisation, 5G-Advanced connectivity with low latency, energy-efficient digital infrastructure, and research into future communication technologies, all aimed at supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation and strengthening the country’s long-term connectivity roadmap.

Shurish Subbramaniam, director and chief technology officer of XLSMART, stated that the centre marks a strategic step in XLSMART’s efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. He added that the partnership with ZTE will help accelerate the adoption of 5G-Advanced and AI technologies, while creating new business opportunities and enhancing Indonesia’s digital competitiveness in the region.

Meanwhile, Richard Liang, president director of ZTE Indonesia, said that Indonesia has significant potential in digital transformation within the ASEAN region. He noted that the centre will combine ZTE’s global innovation experience with local market insights to support the development of more efficient, intelligent, and sustainable digital infrastructure for Indonesia.

ZTE and XLSMART stated that the innovation centre is expected to become a regional reference for telecommunications innovation in ASEAN. The two companies also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation through broader cross-sector collaborations.
