A man entered a tiger enclosure at a wildlife park in England and later died after suffering severe injuries.

Police said the incident happened at Yorkshire Wildlife Park at 1.35pm on Saturday, 10 October.

“Emergency service teams arrived at the scene, but sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.

The tiger was not injured in the incident. Police said the man’s family had been informed and was receiving support from specially trained officers.

“Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time,” police said.

The wildlife park was evacuated after the incident. The tiger remained inside its enclosure.

Authorities said there was no further risk to public safety. A police spokesperson urged people not to share disturbing footage showing the moments when the man was clawed and bitten by the tiger.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park, near the town of Doncaster in northern England, confirmed that a “serious incident” had occurred in one of its tiger enclosures and that the park’s emergency response procedures had been “activated immediately”. The park said it would remain closed throughout Sunday.
