Zohran Mamdani Successfully Backs Two Anti-Israel Democratic Candidates in New York
Two anti-Israel candidates backed by the far-left Democratic Socialists of America, Claire Valdez and Darializa Chevalier, won Democratic Party primaries for congressional seats in New York City on Tuesday. Their victories further cement wins for candidates supported by Mayor Zohran Mamdani. In addition to Valdez and Chevalier, Mamdani also endorsed Brad Lander, a left-wing Jewish critic of Israel, who also won his primary. Mamdani campaigned vigorously for all three candidates, who made anti-Israel rhetoric a central focus of their campaigns. The wins indicate that Mamdani’s surprise mayoral victory last year is not an isolated event, and his influence is likely to expand the Democratic Socialists of America’s reach in Congress. All three candidates are expected to win the November general election in their heavily Democratic districts.
