ZISWAF is an acronym for Zakat, Infak, Sedekah, and Wakaf. These four instruments play a crucial role in the sharia economic system because they function not only as acts of worship but also as a means to improve public welfare and reduce social inequality. In sharia economics, ZISWAF is one of the wealth distribution instruments aimed at creating economic justice and assisting those in need. In Indonesia, the management of ZISWAF is increasingly developing through various institutions such as the National Amil Zakat Agency and other amil zakat bodies. Professional management enables ZISWAF funds to have a positive impact on the economic development of the community. Zakat is a specific amount of wealth that a Muslim who meets the requirements must obligatory disburse to eligible recipients (mustahik). Zakat aims to purify wealth and help those in need. Infak is the expenditure of wealth by a person for purposes commanded in Islam, whether obligatory or sunnah. Infak does not have a specific amount limit. Sedekah is a voluntary gift given to help others and seek the pleasure of Allah SWT. Sedekah is not only material but can also be in the form of energy, knowledge, or other assistance. Wakaf is the surrender of assets whose benefits are used for public interest or worship in accordance with Islamic law. The wakaf assets are preserved, while their benefits continue to be provided to the community. ZISWAF has a strategic role in sharia economic development, namely: reducing poverty and social inequality; improving public welfare; assisting in education and health financing; encouraging the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); creating equitable income distribution; and building solidarity and social concern among people. Some benefits obtained from ZISWAF management include helping underprivileged communities meet their living needs, becoming a source of funding for social and religious activities, supporting productive economic development, improving the quality of public education and health, and fostering a sense of brotherhood and social care. Despite its great potential, ZISWAF management still faces several challenges, such as low public literacy, lack of awareness to pay zakat through official institutions, and the need to improve transparency and accountability in fund management. ZISWAF is an important instrument in the sharia economy that functions as a means of equitable welfare and economic empowerment of the community. Through professional, transparent management in accordance with Islamic law, ZISWAF can be an effective solution in reducing poverty, improving public welfare, and realising sustainable social and economic justice.
