Zig-zag convoy drivers on the Becakayu Toll Road to create car-sales content
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM - Police have revealed the motive behind a group of vehicles that conducted a zig-zag convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road (Bekasi–Cawang–Kampung Melayu). The dangerous manoeuvre was carried out intentionally to create content for the car-trading business of the perpetrators.
‘The act was solely to generate content and to sell cars, as some of the drivers are involved in car trading,’ Reiki, who spoke to Kompas.com on Saturday, 7 March 2026, said.
‘The content is intended to advertise the cars they are selling,’ he added.
The drivers have been summoned, admitted their actions, and issued apologies.
‘The drivers have been asked to issue an apology statement for their actions and to promise not to repeat them,’ Reiki explained.
He further stated that seven young men were involved in creating the content. He confirmed that all drivers are adults and possess the necessary documents such as driving licences and vehicle registration certificates (STNK).
‘Averaging about 25 years old, they already have driving licences,’ he said.
‘We, the drivers who went viral on social media, were zig-zagging on the Becakayu Toll Road on 1 March 2026 at 04:00 WIB,’ one of the drivers said in a video received by Kompas.com.
‘We apologise for the disturbance we caused and we also apologise to the parties concerned, Mr Heri, Head of the Becakayu Toll Road, and Mr Atisullah from the police,’ he continued.
He acknowledged that the act was performed for social media content.
‘What we did cannot be justified and what we did was solely for content. This is the apology we offer. Thank you,’ he said.
