ZF Aftermarket Targets Indonesia's Automotive Aftermarket, Appoints MKN as Sole TRW Distributor
Global automotive component manufacturer ZF Aftermarket has appointed PT Mitra Kencana Nusantara (MKN) as the exclusive distributor for its premium TRW product line in Indonesia. The partnership, formalised at a launch event in Jakarta, is part of ZF’s strategic move to strengthen its position in the country’s growing Independent Aftermarket (IAM) for passenger vehicles, following the integration of TRW’s operations in the ASEAN region.
Indonesia, with approximately 27.3 million vehicles in operation including 20.9 million passenger cars, represents one of ZF Aftermarket’s most strategic markets globally, according to Teoh Chee How, Vice President of ZF Aftermarket and Head of Asia Pacific. The collaboration will combine ZF’s original equipment expertise with MKN’s established national distribution channels to improve product availability and delivery times across the country.
Benny Liem, Country Head of ZF Aftermarket Indonesia, stated that the partnership would leverage MKN’s integrated supply chain and regional distribution centres to ensure consistent availability of TRW products. MKN’s Head of Brand, Freddy Thamrin, emphasised the company’s focus on availability, service, and aftersales support, including a dedicated team for the TRW brand and comprehensive warranty services.
During the launch, ZF introduced key TRW products for the Indonesian market, including high-temperature-resistant brake pads, internationally standardised brake discs, and shock absorbers positioned as premium products at affordable prices. The company is optimistic about the growth of the automotive aftermarket in Indonesia, driven by an increasing vehicle population and rising consumer awareness of safety, particularly after warranty periods expire. TRW is positioned as a premium alternative with original equipment quality at competitive prices, with the highest demand expected for braking components, hydraulic cylinders, and shock absorbers.
