Zero ODOL to Begin in 2027, Traffic Police Chief Reminds Distribution Must Remain Smooth

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Wibowo, has reminded his ranks that the distribution of goods and staple commodities must remain smooth when the zero over-dimension over-loading (ODOL) policy is implemented starting in 2027.

Wibowo conveyed this while giving directives during a Security, Safety, Order, and Traffic Flow (Kamseltibcarlantas) Analysis and Evaluation (Anev) meeting with regional police forces across Indonesia via a Zoom meeting on Tuesday.

"This zero ODOL activity must not affect the availability of goods, especially staple and essential goods (bapokting), let alone influence price stability on the ground," he said, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta.

He also stressed that the implementation of zero ODOL must be carried out in a measured manner and consider national conditions. This is because in 2027, there will be major national-scale agendas, including Ramadan and the Idul Fitri holiday.

In addition, Wibowo asserted that the enforcement of zero ODOL must not rely solely on law enforcement but must also be accompanied by preventive measures and outreach to drivers.

The Traffic Corps, he said, has already approached goods transport drivers as part of its preventive efforts. He hopes that this approach can also be implemented by regional police forces.

"We at the Traffic Corps have been conducting outreach to drivers. We recently provided assistance; perhaps this can also be done by each regional force," he said.

Through preventive outreach, measured law enforcement, and collaboration from all parties, he hopes the implementation of zero ODOL can run effectively while maintaining traffic safety.
