Zerk Eyes CKD Production at Handal Factory as Demand Rises

Jakarta – Enthusiasm for the Chinese premium brand Zeekr has begun to show since its appearance at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026. Market response is claimed to be fairly encouraging, even before the models are officially marketed in the country.

Sales & Channel Development Director Geely Auto Indonesia, Constantinus Herlijoso, said interest in Zeekr was quite high after its introduction at IIMS 2026.

He explained that the two models introduced, Zeekr 7X and Zeekr 009, both attracted attention from consumers. This aligns with Indonesia’s automotive market character, which remains strong in the SUV and MPV segments.

“Because we know that in Indonesia the SUV market is exciting, the MPV market also has its own segment, so both receive fairly good attention,” said Herlijoso.

“Well, this is what we are pursuing continuously. We are chasing to make it happen,” he added.

Not only in terms of launch timing, Geely Auto Indonesia is also preparing a production strategy. Herlijoso stated that Zeekr is planned to be assembled locally to improve price competitiveness while demonstrating the seriousness of investment in the domestic market.

Most likely, the assembly process will be conducted at the facility owned by PT Handal Indonesia Motor. If realised, this move will strengthen Zeekr’s position as a new player that is not merely an imported product but also part of the national automotive industry ecosystem.
