Zendhy Kusuma Explains Why He Did Not Pay for Food at Bibi Kelinci and Left Immediately

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Guitarist Zendhy Kusuma has revealed the reasons why he did not immediately settle his order at Bibi Kelinci restaurant in Kemang, South Jakarta, on 19 September 2025.

He said that at the time he wanted to resolve the matter and meet directly with the person in charge of the restaurant.

He was already angry after waiting for nearly two hours for the order with no certainty, until he decided to enter the kitchen area.

‘In that emotional state we also left the restaurant,’ Zendhy said.

They left the restaurant while carrying 11 portions of food and three drinks without paying a penny.

Based on the printed receipt, the unpaid bill amounts to Rp 530,150.

While in the car, a waiter came with an EDC machine to request payment.

‘We said that we were still willing to make the payment, but we hoped to first meet the person in charge of the restaurant to explain the situation and circumstances that occurred that night,’ Zendhy said.

Zendhy added that his intention was to meet the restaurant’s person in charge the following day.

He brought a letter of apology, the chronology of the incident, and cash for payment, but was not allowed entry because the restaurant owner was out of town.

Even though he could not settle the payment directly, Zendhy stressed that he remained acting in good faith.

He sent the same amount again on 20 October 2025 because it was previously deemed not received.

He admitted fault for not paying immediately when the food was received. He had, instead, taken home the wrapped food.
