Zelensky states 201 Ukrainian military experts deployed to the Middle East
London (ANTARA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Tuesday (17/3) in London, United Kingdom, that Kyiv is deploying 201 anti-drone military experts to the Middle East to help counter Shahed drones. “They are military experts with expertise in assisting and defending against Shahed drone attacks. Our team is already in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, and is en route to Kuwait,” Zelensky revealed to British parliament members in his speech at the country’s parliament. He added that 34 additional experts are ready to be deployed. Zelensky also disclosed that Ukraine is currently capable of producing around 2,000 interceptor drones per day and can supply up to half of that output to its allies to help strengthen their air defences. In addition, he said Kyiv is developing underwater drones as well as drones capable of operating in maritime environments. The United States (US) and Israel launched a massive attack against Iran on 28 February. Iran then retaliated with an attack that effectively halted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and dragged much of the region into conflict. An Iranian parliament member stated via social media on Saturday (14/3) that Ukraine has become a target for Iran due to its involvement in the US-Israel war against Iran. “By providing drone support to the Israeli regime, the failed Ukraine has effectively become involved in the war and, based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, this makes its entire territory a legitimate target for Iran,” wrote Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, on social media platform X.
