Zarina dossier acceptable
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Provincial Prosecutors' Office announced yesterday it had received and okayed the dossier on Ecstasy suspect Zarina.
"The dossier is considered complete and now we are expecting the police to hand over the suspect and all material evidences as soon as possible," spokesman Agus Sutoto said.
Agung said the suspect would be tried in the West Jakarta District Court and about 20 witnesses would testify.
Zarina will be charged under Article 80(4) of the No. 23/ 1992 Law on Health which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years jail and a Rp 300 million fine.
She will also be charged with violating the health minister's Regulation No. 782/1996 Article 12(2)
State prosecutors Rizia Djamil and Uri Hasan Basri would be in charge of the case, Agus said.
When asked if Zarina would be tried for passport forgery, Agus said it was up to Batam immigration office "whether they would question her or not." Zarina fled Indonesia to the United States' from Batam using a forged passport.
On Dec. 10 the Jakarta Provincial Prosecutors' Office returned the dossier on Zarina to police because it was incomplete.
