Zaki Iskandar emphasises the role of party cadres in Jakarta's development

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Golkar Party in DKI Jakarta, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, emphasised the importance of cadres taking an active role in supporting Jakarta’s development. ‘As party cadres, we must also participate, and help the Governor of Jakarta,’ Zaki said at the Golkar DPD Jakarta Office in Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Saturday. During a buka puasa gathering held to also mark Nuzulul Quran, Zaki urged all cadres in his party to actively serve as a conduit of information between the government and the people. ‘We also have a duty to support development programmes and to be the mouthpiece of the people on their needs,’ he said. Golkar cadres in Jakarta were also asked to be active in various social-community activities in their respective environments, such as majelis taklim, dasawisma, and Posyandu activities. ‘There are many programmes that people can actually benefit from, but we must supervise them so that the programmes are truly targeted and achieve their objectives,’ Zaki said. At the event, Zaki also urged all cadres to continue to maintain unity and contribute to Jakarta’s development, such as improving the quality of education, health, infrastructure, and the economy of the people. ‘As party cadres, we must become the driving figures in our respective communities,’ he said. Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he felt comfortable attending the Golkar office event, even as if at home. ‘Today I had the honour of being invited to buka puasa with Golkar at the Golkar DPD Jakarta. Frankly, I have come to Golkar twice and already felt at home,’ Pramono said. ‘When Pak Basri Baco told me to attend, I did not hesitate for a moment and said, “Yes, I will certainly be there,”’ he said. The Golkar DPD Jakarta organised buka puasa as well as commemorating Nuzulul Quran with the theme ‘The Qur’an: A Guide for Steps, a Guide for the God-fearing’ at the Golkar DPD Jakarta Office in Cikini, on Saturday. The event was attended by around 1,500 Golkar cadres from five regions and the Golkar Party’s Hasta Karya community organisation.
