Zainal Abidin dies due to liver cancer

JAKARTA (JP): Former secretary general of the Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti), Zainal Abidin, passed away on Tuesday evening at around 5.00 p.m. at the age of 57.

Zainal had suffered liver cancer for nearly two months. He served as the secretary general for four years during the leadership of Sarwono Kusumaatmadja from 1994 to 1998. Previously he served as the competition committee chairman of Pelti during the leadership of Cosmas Batubara.

Zainal, who was also the deputy planning officer at the office of state minister of investment/the investment coordinating board, was buried at the Kalimulia cemetery in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday at 12.00. (yan)
