Yusril urges officials to adopt substantive, results-oriented working practices
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra has urged all ministry officials to develop substantive, results-oriented working practices.
Speaking at the inauguration of officials at the ministry in Jakarta on Monday (26 October), Yusril said this required setting clear objectives, measurable success indicators, and effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.
“Every issue should be accompanied by comprehensive options for resolution and actionable recommendations,” Yusril said, according to a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In particular, Yusril tasked the newly appointed Deputy for Human Rights Coordination with strengthening human rights policy coordination, building synergies with relevant ministries and agencies, and promoting the resolution of human rights issues requiring cross-sectoral action.
He said an evidence-based approach, constructive communication and measurable follow-up mechanisms were important to ensure the sustained respect, protection, fulfilment, enforcement and promotion of human rights.
The coordinating minister stressed that the use of technology should simplify business processes, improve coordination, speed up information exchange and support data-driven decision-making, while maintaining information security and data protection.
“Newly appointed officials should immediately consolidate internally, understand the ministry’s priorities and draw up strategic steps in line with their respective duties,” he said.
He added that clear work plans, measurable targets and regular evaluations were needed to ensure accountability and optimal results.
Those appointed were Muhammad Siddiq Armia as Deputy for Human Rights Coordination and Natanegara Kartika Purnama as Expert Staff for Human Resources and Digital Transformation.
Yusril said the appointments were part of efforts to establish professional, transparent and objective governance based on the merit system, through an open selection process.
“Success in the selection process is not the end of the journey. Rather, this inauguration marks the beginning of greater responsibility,” Yusril said.
He also emphasised the importance of strengthening cross-sectoral coordination to support the ministry’s work.
The success of a coordinating ministry, he said, was measured not by the number of meetings, documents or recommendations produced, but by its ability to resolve cross-sectoral issues, strengthen cooperation among ministries and agencies, and ensure that policy recommendations are acted upon.
Through the appointments, the Coordinating Ministry for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, improving cross-sectoral coordination and establishing professional, adaptive and results-oriented governance in support of its work on legal affairs, human rights, immigration and corrections.
