Jakarta, Kompas.com - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Prisons Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that Lokataru Foundation Executive Director Delpedro Marhaen and colleagues could obtain rehabilitation from President Prabowo Subianto after being acquitted in the incitement case linked to the August 2025 riots. Yusril noted that rehabilitation could be granted by Prabowo if the court’s verdict did not include rehabilitation of the dignity, reputation, and position of Delpedro and the other defendants. “I have not read the full verdict yet to see whether rehabilitation is included or not by the judge. If it is not included, Delpedro and colleagues can be rehabilitated by the President,” Yusril said on Friday (6 March 2026), quoted from Antara. When visiting Delpedro in the Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention cell in September last year, Yusril briefly offered a message that the legal process could be pursued by Delpedro and colleagues with knightly conduct. “As a former activist who has traversed various legal struggle avenues, I tell them as activists they must dare to resist and be gentlemanly,” he said. At the time, Yusril urged Delpedro and colleagues to prove their innocence in court. He argued that such an attitude is important for an activist to defend their beliefs through lawful and legitimate democratic processes. Besides Delpedro, there were three other defendants acquitted: Lokataru staff Muzaffar Salim, Gejayan Memanggil admin Syahdan Husein, and Aliansi Mahasiswa Penggugat admin Khariq Anhar. After being acquitted, Delpedro asked the state to compensate for material losses suffered by him and his three colleagues — Khariq Anhar, Syahdan Husein, and Muzaffar Salim — during the legal process. He said the legal process had caused them to lose various opportunities, from work to education, due to about six months in detention. “We ask Yusril Ihza Mahendra, and the state, to restore and repair our dignity, and compensate all the losses we have suffered, including material losses,” Delpedro said after the verdict at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday (6 March 2026).
