Yusril on Febrie Adriansyah Case: Extra Caution Needed, Prosecutors Must Adhere to Legal Principles

Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, has affirmed that the case involving the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, must be handled in accordance with legal principles, while prioritising transparency and justice.

Yusril said law enforcement officials must work meticulously so that the legal process remains objective and compliant with applicable provisions.

“Indeed, an extra-careful attitude is required. When the prosecutors receive the handover of this case to conduct further investigation after the suspect was formally named, they must still firmly adhere to the legal principles governing law enforcement in the field of corruption,” Yusril said in Sumedang, West Java, on Monday, 13 July 2026.

According to Yusril, every law enforcement institution is obliged to exercise its authority based on the rules in force, so that professionalism is maintained and public trust does not erode.

“This is a heavy test for us. But as a reality we cannot reject, it must be faced with firmness, courage and the conviction that the law must be upheld to build the trust of all levels of society,” he said.

He emphasised that the legal process must not be influenced by the status or position of the person being examined, including if the case concerns an official or former official within the prosecution service.

“Now the police have handed the case over to the prosecutors. The prosecutors must comply with all the rules in enforcing the law in this case, even though the person being investigated is a former official of the prosecution service itself,” he said.

Yusril added that law enforcement against officials or former officials of state institutions is nothing new, as similar cases have occurred in a number of law enforcement institutions.

He also invited the public to help safeguard the course of the legal process so that it remains objective, is carried out according to each institution’s authority, and is guided by the prevailing regulations.
