Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, has stressed that the handling of the case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, must be conducted in accordance with legal principles, prioritising transparency and justice. Yusril stated that law enforcement officials must work meticulously to ensure the legal process remains objective and compliant with regulations. “An extra cautious approach is necessary. When prosecutors receive this case for further investigation after a suspect has been named, they must firmly uphold the legal principles related to corruption law enforcement,” Yusril said in Sumedang, West Java, on Monday 13 July 2026. According to Yusril, every law enforcement institution is obliged to exercise its authority based on applicable rules so that professionalism is maintained and public trust does not erode. “This is a tough test for us. But as a reality we cannot reject, it must be faced with determination, courage, and the belief that the law must be upheld to build the trust of all levels of society,” he said. He emphasised that the legal process must not be influenced by the status or position of the party being examined, including if the case involves current or former officials within the prosecutor’s office. “Now the police have handed it over to the prosecutors. The prosecutors must comply with all regulations in enforcing this law, even though the person being investigated is a former official of the prosecutor’s office itself,” he said. Yusril added that law enforcement against state officials or former officials is not unprecedented, as similar cases have occurred in several law enforcement institutions. He also invited the public to oversee the legal process to ensure it remains objective, is carried out according to each institution’s authority, and adheres to the prevailing regulations.
