Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that every public policy coordinated and service provided must be oriented towards the public interest, while supporting effective and impactful governance.

“Every proposal we formulate, every policy we coordinate and every service we provide must result in tangible benefits felt by the public,” Yusril told civil servants during a capacity-building event in Jakarta on Wednesday (21 October), according to a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.

Yusril also spoke about the importance of strengthening civil servants’ capacity, professionalism and sense of solidarity as they carry out the ministry’s strategic role.

He said the Ministry of Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections’ first two years had been an important phase in building its institutional foundations, strengthening coordination and shaping its organisational identity.

In his view, the ministry’s success depended not only on individual ability but also on cooperation and aligned efforts across all its departments.

He highlighted three priorities for ministry civil servants: strengthening coordination between work units, improving the quality of public service so it delivers tangible benefits, and maintaining solidarity and mutual support in carrying out the organisation’s work.

He stressed that no department could operate in isolation, since every success, advancement and achievement—whether in a deputy-level unit or the secretariat—contributed to the ministry as a whole.

“Let us remove communication barriers and tackle every challenge together,” Yusril said.

He added that improvements in civil servants’ capabilities should be reflected in professional, careful and responsible work.

He also underscored the importance of fostering a harmonious, productive and supportive working environment. The diverse backgrounds, experience and expertise of civil servants, he said, should be a strength in improving coordination on law, human rights, immigration and corrections.

“Two years is not a long time, but it is enough to prove that the Ministry of Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections’ greatest strength lies not in its institutional buildings, but in solidarity and service,” Yusril said.

The ministry held the civil-service capacity-building event under the theme “Synergy for Justice, a Dignified Indonesia”.

The event coincided with the main celebration of the ministry’s second Service Day in 2026, intended to reinforce professionalism, integrity, solidarity and the commitment of all staff to public service.

The programme opened with a report by ministry secretary Andika Dwi Prasetya, who chaired the Service Day committee. He outlined activities held since 1 October 2026 to strengthen internal solidarity and make a positive contribution to the public.

These included a logo-design competition, a literary works competition with 490 participants, a blood donation drive that collected 111 units, and legal education sessions under the theme “Know the Law, Protect Yourself” at five senior high schools in Jakarta and the Immigration and Corrections Polytechnic in Tangerang, Banten.

Free health checks and a cross-sector cooperation forum to support immigration and corrections work units were also held.

“The Service Day activities provide an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and coordination across the ministry in carrying out our duties and service,” Andika said.

The event also featured the launch of the ministry’s anthem, intended as a symbol of organisational identity and a source of renewed commitment to integrity, loyalty, professionalism and service.

The ministry presented Satya Lancana Karya Satya service awards to employee representatives, mementoes to retiring staff, and awards to institutions and schools that supported the second Service Day activities.

The programme continued with prizes for the logo-design and literary competition winners, as well as the symbolic presentation of social assistance to employee and support-staff representatives.
