Yusril: Digital Transformation Must Be Supported by High-Level Security Systems
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, has emphasised that the government’s digital transformation must be supported by systems possessing high levels of security and reliability to maintain public trust in the delivery of public services.
According to Yusril, cybersecurity is not merely related to the use of technology, but is also a vital component in building integrated government governance and maintaining public confidence.
“I am requesting all ranks within the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs to possess the same awareness and responsibility in safeguarding information security and building digital government governance that is secure, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community,” Yuslam stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Although the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs does not process or hold vast amounts of public personal data, Yusril noted that the institution holds the personal data of its employees, the privacy of which must be respected as regulated by law.
Therefore, Yusril continued, cooperation with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is a crucial step for the Ministry to strengthen electronic system security, protect government data, and ensure that every digital service can operate effectively and accountably.
The Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs is strengthening its electronic system security and information technology governance through a strategic partnership with BSSN, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This collaboration serves as a strategic move for the Ministry to bolster bureaucratic reform while establishing the implementation of an Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) that is secure, reliable, integrated, and high in integrity.
The Head of BSSN, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, stated that security must be an integral part of the process, from the planning and construction stages through to the development of electronic systems.
“With such an approach, the systems built can be better protected from various potential cyber threats and possess reliability and accountability that can be justified,” said Nugroho.
He added that through this bilateral cooperation, BSSN will provide input regarding security management within ongoing systems to ensure more accountable system control and reliability.
Conversely, BSSN will receive various inputs from the Coordinating Ministry regarding the strengthening of regulations in the field of cybersecurity, as well as guidance regarding internal assessments to organise standard operating procedures for security to meet applicable legal standards.
The synergy between the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs and BSSN is expected to serve as a foundation for building an increasingly secure and trusted government digital ecosystem.
This cooperation also supports the acceleration of the government’s digital transformation in realising effective public services and supporting the Indonesia Gold Vision 2045.
