Yurita, Nunung head to Taipei

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's hammer thrower Yurita Ariani and pole vaulter Nunung Jayadi both qualified from the Indonesian Amateur Athletics Association (PASI) selections to compete in the Taipei Open championships, to be held in Taipei on April 28 and April 29.

Yurita threw 46.55 meters, only one centimeter short of her personal best, while Nunung leaped 4.90m, 15 centimeters below his personal best, which is also the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games record, set at the 1999 Brunei Darussalam Games.

Besides the Taipei Open, PASI will also send athletes to the Malaysian Open, Thai Open and other regional championships in preparation for the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur from Sept. 8 to Sept. 17, Antara reported. (yan)
