West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan has revealed that Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the abuse and confinement case of Yuvita Tri Rezeki, carried out the acts over a two-year period from 2024 to 2026. He stated that the victim was subjected to abuse including being struck with bare hands, a helmet, and a sharp weapon. ‘Between May 2024 and June 2026, severe abuse occurred in the Bandung area. The perpetrator committed various acts of violence, burning the victim’s body with cigarettes, striking the head with bare hands, hitting the victim’s face, head, mouth, and ears with a helmet (this was done repeatedly), and striking with a small table and a pistol-shaped lighter, resulting in serious injury to the victim,’ he said during a press conference at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (26/6/2026). Additionally, he stated that the perpetrator confined and locked the victim in a room, leaving her in a helpless state. He noted that the victim and perpetrator initially became acquainted through the Tinder application in 2024. ‘They got to know each other, felt close, entered a relationship, and it seems they lived together in a boarding house. They moved between several places during their relationship from May 2024 to June 2026,’ he said. He confirmed that there were four locations where the victim and perpetrator resided, and crime scene investigations have been conducted.
