YTR Tortured by Taufik Hidayat in Four Locations: Eyes Struck with Iron, Face Beaten with Helmet
Suspect Taufik Hidayat (30) has been formally detained in connection with the severe abuse and false imprisonment of a woman identified by the initials YTR (29). The victim has suffered total loss of eyesight and permanent physical disability as a result of the torture. The arrest has uncovered a series of systematic violent acts committed by Taufik against YTR across four different locations since 2024. Their acquaintance began in 2024 through a dating application. ‘They got to know each other and became close. Then they lived together in a rented room,’ said West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan during a press conference at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters in Bandung, as reported by detikJabar on Friday (26/6/2026). ‘Based on witness and victim statements, the violence began when they were living in a boarding house in the Cicaheum area, Bandung City, from May to September 2024,’ Rudi added. During that initial period, the victim was frequently abused by Taufik inside the room. ‘The violence experienced by the victim included being beaten on the body and burned with cigarettes,’ Rudi stated. The violence escalated after they moved to a second location not far from the first boarding house between September 2024 and January 2025. At this location, according to Rudi, the perpetrator struck the victim’s eye, causing blindness. ‘At this boarding house, the victim’s left eye was hit with an iron bar, causing her to lose sight in that eye,’ Rudi said. Rudi explained that the suspect and the victim were evicted from the second boarding house due to frequent arguments. They then moved to the Cilengkrang area in Bandung Regency in February 2025. It was at this third location that the victim’s condition deteriorated further. ‘According to the victim’s statement, her right eye was struck with a helmet until she could not see at all. Additionally, the victim’s knee was slashed with a sharp object, making it difficult for her to walk,’ Rudi said. The confinement and abuse continued at a fourth location, a boarding house in the Cileunyi area of Bandung Regency. The victim was under the perpetrator’s control from January to June 2026 before the case was finally uncovered. ‘The perpetrator struck the victim’s face, mouth, and ears with a helmet. He hit her repeatedly until she was severely injured. The perpetrator confined the victim by locking her in the room and leaving her helpless,’ Rudi concluded.
