YTR, Female Victim of Taufik Hidayat, Finally Speaks Out
After three years of allegedly being held captive and tortured by her partner, Taufik Hidayat, a woman with the initials YTR (29) is now free but suffering from physical and psychological trauma. YTR is receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung, West Java. Meanwhile, Taufik Hidayat (30) has been arrested and named a suspect.
Through a video recording distributed by the family, including via the Instagram account of Erni Heryadi (39), YTR’s aunt, the victim expressed her response to her newfound freedom and Taufik’s arrest by the police. YTR thanked all parties, especially the West Java Regional Police, for successfully apprehending the perpetrator.
‘Alhamdulillah, I am very happy. Thank you, Chief of Police, for helping me. I am happy again, I feel calmer because he has been arrested,’ said YTR when asked about her hopes by her aunt, Erni Heryadi. YTR wants Taufik Hidayat to receive a severe punishment. ‘I want him to be punished as severely as possible, so he feels what I felt,’ she said. In the video, YTR appeared to be lying weakly, her body covered with a white blanket, accompanied by her father. Like YTR and other family members, the victim’s father hopes Taufik Hidayat receives the maximum penalty for his actions. ‘Punish him as severely as possible, because we are a nation of laws. Life imprisonment, because YTR is disabled for life,’ said YTR’s father when asked by Erni.
Erni recounted that YTR’s condition now appears to have improved. She added that although YTR is experiencing vision problems, she is trying to remain independent. This was evident when Erni was about to feed her, but YTR wanted to eat by herself despite being ill. ‘I tried to feed her, but her hands moved as if she wanted to eat on her own,’ she said. Erni also conveyed that YTR’s eyesight is currently non-functional due to the severe abuse. ‘According to the doctor, the right eye is damaged. Her eyesight was already poor, with thick glasses. Even without her glasses, her vision is unclear, and the pupil of her left eye has shrunk,’ she stated.
According to Erni, her niece was the family’s breadwinner who wanted to make her parents happy. She also mentioned that YTR was known as a hard worker. Previously, YTR was reported missing by her family around three years ago. The family later found the victim at RSHS Bandung in a deplorable condition. It turned out she had allegedly been held captive and tortured by Taufik Hidayat, who was initially known as her partner. Most recently, YTR had been confined for several months in a rented room in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency. After the case came to light, Taufik was briefly a fugitive before finally being arrested by police in Majalaya, Bandung Regency.
