YouTube Tests Two New Features "Auto Speed" and "On-the-go"
Jakarta (ANTARA) - YouTube is reportedly testing two new features named “Auto Speed” and “On-the-go”. These features are being trialled for YouTube Premium users as experimental options and have been spotted in the YouTube app for Android. According to 9to5 Google on Monday (13/4) local time, the first feature, “Auto Speed”, appears to be an improved version of 2x speed. If not supported, the “Automatic” button on video speed controls will not appear. If supported, the feature can be found in the same location as 2x speed and other speeds added in the latest update. The experiment description states that this feature can be activated automatically or manually. If automatic, the video will switch to a user interface more similar to YouTube Music after detecting movement for at least 60 seconds. A prompt may appear asking if you want to switch. This feature seems to provide easier control for YouTube users when mobilising but wanting to access favourite videos from their device. Both the “Auto Speed” and “On-the-go” features are currently only available for trial on Android devices. Although still experimental, these features may become available to more users in the future. YouTube Premium users can try these experimental features until 27 April 2026.
