YouTube Premium Lite Now Allows Background Video Playback
KOMPAS.com - YouTube has added two new features to its most affordable subscription package, YouTube Premium Lite.
The subscription package now supports background video playback and offline content downloads.
The announcement of these new features was made directly by YouTube through a post on its official website.
YouTube stated that the addition of these two new features makes the Premium Lite package more complete than before.
Before this update, YouTube Premium Lite subscribers could not play videos in the background. Content could also not be downloaded for later viewing without an internet connection.
YouTube Premium Lite is positioned as a more affordable version of the regular YouTube Premium package. This package is aimed at users who want to enjoy content with fewer ads.
YouTube Premium Lite is priced at $7.99 (approximately Rp 134,000) per month. With this price, users can enjoy an ad-free experience for most YouTube content.
The second limitation is that the YouTube Premium Lite package does not include ad-free access to YouTube Music. This feature is only available exclusively to regular YouTube Premium subscribers.
YouTube stated that the addition of features to Premium Lite was made after many users requested that this subscription package have functions that are closer to YouTube Premium, as compiled by KompasTekno from Mashable.
For information, the regular YouTube Premium package is priced at $13.99 (approximately Rp 234,600) per month. This package offers a completely ad-free YouTube experience, including access to YouTube Music, background playback, and offline downloads.
However, according to KompasTekno, the YouTube Premium Lite subscription package is not yet available for users in Indonesia.
When we accessed the YouTube subscription page, the message “This offer is not available” appeared, indicating that this affordable subscription package is not yet accessible in Indonesia.
However, the announcement of this feature on Google’s official support page for Indonesia indicates that the subscription package will be available soon, although the official launch date is not yet known.
