YouTube Goes Down on Wednesday Morning, Displaying 'An Error Occurred, Try Again' Message
Jakarta, VIVA — Google’s video-sharing platform YouTube was reported to have experienced a massive technical outage on the second day of Lunar New Year, Wednesday morning, 18 February 2026.
The disruption appeared to be global in nature, with users reporting error messages when attempting to use the application.
VIVA attempted to access YouTube via a laptop at 08:45 but was unable to do so, encountering only a blank white screen.
When accessed via a mobile phone, the message “An Error Occurred, Try Again” was displayed. Users accessing the video streaming platform on mobile devices, computers and TV applications all experienced the same issue.
On YouTube’s TV streaming service specifically, the home screen failed to display recommended content as it normally would. Data from the application outage tracking site Downdetector showed hundreds of thousands of reports from users worldwide regarding the disruption within a short period.
The reports primarily focused on errors preventing content from being displayed on the home page, whilst other functions continued to operate partially.
At the time of reporting, Google — YouTube’s parent company — had not issued any official statement regarding the cause of the problem or when it would be resolved. The lack of information has left the user community continuing to monitor the situation and awaiting a response from the service provider.
