Youths learn trades in Japan
PADANG, West Sumatra: Forty-six local youths left for Japan on Sunday to take part in an apprenticeship program in a number of companies, Antara reported yesterday.
The head of the provincial manpower office, Fachri Thaharuddin, said each of the youths will get a monthly allowance of 80,000 yen (approximately US$ 761), as well as having all other expenses paid by the companies.
"Hopefully they will return home after two years with a variety of skills that can be applied here," Fachri said. (swe)
