Youth orchestra to play at TIM

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Youth Orchestra will hold its second annual concert at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Graha Bhakti Budaya in Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta.

The performance is held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of TIM's Arts Center and the start of a cooperation agreement between the Indonesian Youth Orchestra Foundation and the center.

Cooperation covers the organization of regular orchestra performances and educational activities at the art center, the foundation said in a statement.

The agreement is expected to be signed by representatives of the two parties and will be witnessed by Governor Sutiyoso at 7 p.m. before the concert commences.

Expected to attend the concert are ministers, ambassadors and members of the public, particularly young people.

Sixty-nine young musicians aged between seven and 28 years and 72 choir members from the Charitas elementary and junior high schools and Pangudi Luhur elementary school will perform.

Conductors are Amin A. Tamin and Yazeed Djamin, who is also the arranger of songs in the performance. (hhr)
