Youth murder bus station
JAKARTA (JP): A youth was beaten and stabbed to death yesterday at Kampung Rambutan bus station, East Jakarta, police reported.
According to Ciracas police precinct, the victim, identified as Basroni, 18, was stabbed in the stomach. The motive for the killing is unknown.
A relative of Basroni said the victim, who had been staying in Ilir Kampong, South Sumatra, had been in Jakarta since Tuesday.
"He was looking for a job and his friend, Akrun, offered him a position as a soft drink seller," he said, adding that Basroni was staying at Akrun's boarding house near Kampung Rambutan bus terminal.
Basroni was sitting in the bus station when some men approached him. It was unknown who first started the ensuing argument, but they soon became embroiled in a fight which ended in Basroni's death, he said.
Basroni was taken to the Christian University's (UKI) hospital where he was given medical treatment before he died.
The body was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital for an autopsy.
The perpetrators are still at large. (01)
